PHILOSOPHY

In respect of our tradition and the nature, our concern is to create quality products of high standards, while trying every year to reduce our carbon footprint.

In this effort we have modern mechanical equipment, while at the same time we use cultivation and winemaking techniques, friendly to the ecosystem of the area where we operate.

HISTORY

The Skevofilax winery is a family business that started its wine activity in 2010. At that time, in our privately owned land at Karydies area in Kefalos of Kos island, we cultivated the first vineyard of 20 acres.

The first samples of our work became available in the local market in 2012. Since then, we constantly try with our own continuous training and the renewal of our mechanical equipment, to evolve and offer the best possible result to our consumer.

Our ally in this journey of taste is clearly the strictest criteria for selecting the raw material, as well as the area's microclimate (the sea breeze and the August meltemia) which together with its volcanic subsoil, offer a unique result.

WINERY

The winery is located in Kampos of Kefalos and it's an area of 300 sq.m. which will be ready for visiting again in May 2023, when its renovation works and energy upgrade will be completed.

Having a great passion for the wine production, the Skevofilax family anticipates in this way the continuous development of its winery, in searching and visioning of an ever better in quality and taste of wine product.

With an open and welcoming space, the Skevofilax winery will once again be able to welcome all its visitors for an outstanding tasting of its wines.

VINEYARD

The quality of the raw material plays a decisive role in the quality of the wine. As they say in the world of winemaking "great wines are made in the vineyard!". So are ours, therefore we put a lot of emphasis on the cultivation of our vineyards.

Today we manage about 40 acres, most of which are located on the west side of the island of Kos, in the village of Kefalos. Characteristic of this area is the volcanic soils with their sandy texture and pumice content, to which the varieties of Assyrtiko and Malagouzia have been adapted.

On the east side of the island, at the foot of Mountain Dikaios, our partners cultivate the red cosmopolitan varieties of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet in soils of heavier clay texture and which give a very high quality grape with very good aromatic and phenolic maturation, thus excellent rosé and red wines.
